Kitty Update

Samantha will be having surgery next Wednesday to have the 3rd eyelid removed. If the tumor has grown into the eye then they'll take that at that time also. I've got her back here at home and have to give her drops 3 times a day until then.

It's what has to be done, but I will admit to being in a little bit of sticker shock.

Thanks so much for all of the good vibes!

Samanta Belle

I get home from my evening out and go to brush a crusty out of my 17 year old cat, Samantha's eye and a chunky of what I thought was her 3rd eyelid fell into my hand and she started bleeding ...a lot. I called my friend that I'd had dinner with to tell him that I'm home and freak out a bit and he talked me off the cliff and got me calmed down enough to call the vet to get the emergency vet info. I got her down to Toledo and the emergency vet clinic is packed. 2 dogs put down, one hit by a car and a line up waiting. They took her back without me so they could squeeze her in and I think it was the longest 40 minutes of my life. We're headed back to the ophthalmologist tomorrow to find out if they have to take the eye. Seems that she has a clot in the cornea. Not sure why that wasn't detected the last time that they saw her, but I'll be bringing it up. She's cone head kitty, and I've gotta get up with her about every hour to make sure she hasn't started bleeding again.

I'm usually good in a crisis, but when the blood just started pouring out of her eye I just froze. I won't get that image out of my head for a while ...

Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams St. Pat's Edition

What an amazing night that was! The snow on Friday (St. Pat’s) was spectacular, easily a foot between 11 am and 11pm. We were really worried about how long the storm would last, especially once the freezing rain started, but when we woke up on St. Pat’s morning it was clear as a bell everything was already plowed out!

It was SO cool meeting Amber from the Circus Fans!!!!!!!!! Shoot! We should have taken a picture! Rats. Ah well, next time.

It was LOTS of fun coming in and seeing the surprise on everyone’s face when I got there. I just about slid under my seat when they turned the spotlight on me and announced that I was there from Michigan though! I will find out who the mastermind was behind that little trick! ;-)

Got to see Tony, Tink and Chen for a minute before the show and introduce them to my friend Maura, and Joziah and Sharkey after the show. They were, as always, wonderful hosts and she was so wonderfully impressed with how much they enjoy connecting with their fans, and the level of appreciation that they have for them. Thanks to Tink for the green carnation!

I didn’t realize that there was going to be an opening act, and what a delightful surprise. Jason Spooner and his band are just wonderful! They’re coming out with a new album and played some of their new tunes and I really really enjoyed it. They have a folksy/blues/country/rock thing going on, so they fit in perfectly for opening up for the Circus.

I don’t think they did the set list that they’d planned. I know that they hadn’t been doing Yodel as much, so it was fun to have them pop that back in. The new tunes were awesome! Let it Roll is a wonderful “big dumb song” with epic qualities that will surely make it another of everyone’s faves. Tink is absolutely magical (the song, well …the woman too, but I’m referring to the song). It is a beautiful beautiful song, and an amazing tribute to the little girl in all women. It’s up on YouTube right now too and I just keep playing it over and over. Performing She’s In Her Own World right after Tink was PERFECT! That’s one that is especially close to my heart (gee, wonder why? LOL) and they’re just the perfect compliment to each other.

The Irish tunes were so full of life!! Amber had typed up the chorus to Rocky Road to DublinCircus Fans link on it, so hopefully we’ll see some new friends here. It was wonderful to have those so we could sing along, they aren’t kidding when they say that it goes along at a good clip! The Subterranean Homesick Blues surprise was lots of fun. I love it when Joziah just takes off into something and everyone just goes with the flow, like when we were in Muskegon. thanks to Shiredweller’s heads up, and it had the

Oh, and one quick SQUEEEEEEEEEEE moment: NEW CD IN JULY!!!!!!!!!!!

As always, the music was only part of what made the evening so special. I can’t think of anyone else, any other band that would recognize that someone that had come to attend a concert in another state, and that’s because they aren’t just a band. They’re our friends, people that we share our stories with, as much as they share their stories with us. They’re people that you’d go and grab a coffee with (a damn fine cup of coffee it is too!) and as always it seemed odd to leave and know that I wouldn’t be seeing them again for 3 weeks.

Thank you, you beautiful Slambovians, for another evening filled with love and the reminder that the child inside of us all has to be set free in order to truly live.

Friday's Feast #2

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Appetizer
What is your usual bedtime? Do you like that, or would you rather it be different?

Usually around 10:00 or 11:00 pm. If I didn't have to work in the morning, I'd probably be up until 2:00 or 3:00 am.

Soup
When it comes to advice, do you give more or receive more?

Give. Actually, I tend to ask a lot of questions to make people think and come up with different thought processes.

Salad
Describe a memorable meal you've had.

While many meals are wonderful, I find that I remember the company that I was in during the meal, rather than the specific foods. I know that I had escargot with Dan at the Real Seafood Co. That I had Boxty with Kelly and her family at Connor's, and I have no idea what I ate, but the night that we celebrated Bee and Diane's 50 birthdays and Mo's 40th will be a night that won't ever be forgotten.

Main Course
Name a work of fiction that affected the way you think about something.

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. To make the affliction of time travel be a disease was brilliant, but the incredible love that they shared took me to another level of writing that I hadn't achieved before.

Dessert
What is your favorite type of fruit juice?

Carrot. ok, it's not a fruit ...Apricot.

What does the color pink make you think of?

Preppies in the 80s – Remember wood handled purses in pink and green?

Gawd, in the mess that I live in this happens DAILY! A printer cartridge would be the most recent example.

Salad
In 3 words, describe this past week.

Exciting, turbulent, psychoactive.

Main Course
What are you obsessed with?

Ooh, one of those “just how honest do I want to be on the internet?” questions. Lol I’ll play it safe and say Checking Email.

Thursday Thirteen #10 (Welcome Back!)

Thirteen Things that Irk me about Petty People

Well, it’s like we were never gone, isn’t it?

Thirteen Things that Irk me about Petty People (rough week at work …who me?)

1. They are so focused on themselves that they don’t realize that they’re hurting others.
2. They take the joy out of the simplest things.
3. No consideration of anyone else.
4. Lack of Depth
5. They make mountains out of molehills.
6. They pout …and it isn’t even cute.
7. Whining …just give me the cheese and no one will be hurt.
8. They whisper, like no one around knows that they’re talking about other people behind their backs.
9. The way that they travel in gaggles …*shudder*
10. The emphasis on material possessions and “keeping up with the Jones’.”
11. The inability to sense or appreciate the world around them.
12. It never occurs to them to try to change anything in their lives.
13. They focus on the inconsequential part of an issue, rather than trying to make an impact upon the big picture problem.

TT ...well crud

I thought that I had sent my TT to work via email, but it looks like I didn't. I'll post around 8 or 9est tonight, if I can find what I did with it ...or I might just do a different one and do that one next week.

blah blah blah ...feeling discombobulated. I'm sleepy.
